Rachel Harford, Career and Business Coach
I am passionate about working with people to realise their dreams and achieve their full potential. I am a qualified coach, having trained with the Co-active Coaching Training Institute. As a coach my strengths lie in championing the client whilst challenging them to make choices and transformations in their lives to be who they want to be.
I have worked in various roles within the charity/not for profit and public sector. I have worked for organisations including Christian Aid, Anti-Slavery International and Asylum Aid. I was joint Co-ordinator for five years for Campaign against Arms Trade, during which time I developed a comprehensive media strategy which resulted in significantly raising the profile of the organisation.
These experiences in the sector gave me profound insights into the importance of equality, justice and basic freedoms in order for individuals and communities to thrive and flourish. My work within these organisations illustrates my commitment to these values and I aim always to work with people in a non-judgemental, respectful and compassionate way. I have worked with many groups and individuals from varied and diverse communities to support them in fulfilling their ambitions and to effectively contribute to their community.
I have counselling skills, having trained with the London School of Counselling and Therapy and have worked as a crisis counsellor for the London Rape Crisis Centre.
I currently work part-time for Connexions in Northumberland as an IAG adviser, working with young people aged 13-19 and up to 25 for those with Special Educational Needs, to access appropriate training, education and employment. Within this group I provide intensive support to sometimes more vulnerable young people who are parents-to-be/parents/young travellers and carers.
