Striding Out has successfully secured a contract to deliver the Future Jobs fund in partnership with Social Enterprise London. Over the course of the programme we aim to secure 500 jobs for young people in London.

Striding Out has identified job opportunities within it's business network, and we are responsible for the job brokerage to match young people to the jobs available. We are also providing employability skills to young people to help them through the interview process and providing coaching support to the young people during the six months of employment.

The Future Jobs Fund is providing around £1 billion to support the creation of jobs for long term unemployed young people and others who face significant disadvantage in the labour market.

The Fund aims to create 150,000 jobs, which have a social and/or environmental focus. The jobs are aimed primarily at 18-24 year olds who have been out of work for a year. The fund is run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in partnership with the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG).

YouthWorks is a cutting edge new project from London Youth, which aims to train a new generation of youth workers with a specialism in Youth Action.

YouthWorks full-time volunteers will volunteer for 6 months in a host youth club. During this time they will complete their Level 1 Foundation in Youth Work qualification and run a youth action project in their youth club. Participants will be trained in skills needed to help them facilitate a youth action project in their youth club. They will need to inspire 5 young people in their club to run a small project that benefits the club in some way. Young people will be able to access up to £2000 for these projects.

Striding Out is working with YouthWorks to deliver our comprehensive youth leadership and peer to peer coaching programme over a course of 6 months. This comprises of regular monthly one to one coaching sessions and group coaching workshops where young people will be able to work on personal development issues such as increasing confidence, managing time and achieving goals. As well as this they will learn to mentor and coach each other and bring coaching skills into their Youth Clubs.

Personally I have got a lot out of the coaching sessions it has helped me become more confident and positive towards my future and it has enabled me to think about life in a different perspective. The coaching is helping me to plan ahead, and helped me commit to what I say. I feel that the sessions are a big help as they enable me to talk to my coach about my problems and fears and how I can overcome them which is very affective in my life as i would normally bottle them all up.

Re-Evolve part of Vital Regeneration is an innovative careers advice service run by 16-25 year olds from Westminster.

Young volunteers gain confidence and direction in their career through creating their own resources to help other young people decide what careers they want to get into. The volunteers benefit from the hands-on experiences in their chosen industry and as a result become more enterprising and business-minded as they are given the responsibility of organising networking events and career workshops for schools and colleges.

Striding Out delivered the "Be Confident" Coaching programme for their young volunteers comprising of a series of 4 workshops to develop their confidence in leadership and project management skills.

'As a result of the group coaching sessions, I have gained self-confidence and a positive sense of my values and uniqueness. I've learned that I have many gifts to offer and that it is OK to need help from others. I've learned that I can achieve anything that I really want to do. From the SMART goals, I set myself, I have decided to continue with my study, which I am now enjoying much more, whilst working in the charity sector. Overall feedback is that our Striding Out coach has been fantastic. She provides a deeply caring and supportive presence. We have all felt empowered and energised by this process! Thank you ;-) (I chose a fun action shot of myself when I went on someone's boat the other day. The spirit of confidence and adventure that life coaching brings)'  Emily Beckwith (Re-evolve Client)

Starting Out in Performing Arts

Striding Out has teamed up with Voiceability and PANDA, the Performing Arts Network and Development Agency, to provide inspiration and support to young people who are interested in starting their own business in the performing arts. We held an event at Voiceability's Performing Art Studios, and invited inspiring young entrpreneurial speakers working in the industry to tell their story about what to do and what not to do. Striding Out is providing one to one business coaching to the budding young entrepreneurs.

Urban Academy - we have worked with a group of young people who had a desire to set up a social enterprise in their local community.

The Urban Academy Girls - Lenole, Nadine and Siona had access to group coaching circles every fortnight over 6mths to help them progress their business idea.  “The sessions have helped us to increase our confidence and knowledge for planning the business. In particular our knowledge of  developing a strategy, financial planning, market research, marketing and management were definitely improved. As a result we have had the motivation to make relevant contacts and connections, and accessed other useful resources and support. We have gone on to secure a £5k loan from the Princes Trust.”

MBG FunHouse is a pioneering new initiative designed by three single mums to create and strengthen social bonds within a deprived community.  Fed up and frustrated with the lack of free, family facilities in their local area and with nowhere safe to go to spend quality time engaging with their children, three enterprising young mothers from South London have taken matters into their own hands.
